Morning calm: How to brew fresh mint tea from your balcony
A simple, grounding morning ritual with fresh mint from your pot — perfect for a calm start to the day.
Before the rush of emails, the printing consultations, and the noise of the day begins, there is a quiet window of time in the morning. For me, stepping out onto the patio to feel the cool Florida morning air is my favorite way to connect with the Creator.
One of the easiest ways to bring that sense of calm into your body is by brewing a cup of fresh mint tea straight from your pot. Mint is incredibly easy to grow (in fact, always keep it in a pot, otherwise it will take over your whole garden!), and it has amazing soothing properties.
The Morning Ritual
- Pinch off a small handful of fresh mint leaves. Don’t pull the roots; just snap the stems with your fingers.
- Rinse the leaves gently to remove any dust.
- Place them in your favorite glass mug. If you gently crush the leaves in your hand before dropping them in, it releases even more of that beautiful mint oil.
- Pour boiling water over the leaves and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
Watch the water turn a pale, beautiful green. Breathe in the steam. You can add a drop of honey if you like it sweet, but it’s perfect just as it is. It’s a simple, grounding routine that reminds us to appreciate the small, beautiful details in life.
